OldTestGreekProf version 1.0 beta

The OldTestGreekProf (Old Testament's Greek Professors) presents
its first version "1.0 beta".

The OldTestGreekProf (Old Testament's Greek Professors) version "1.0 beta" is an electronic bibliographic catalogue. It contains the Curricula vitae and the scientific works of Greek Professors of Old Testament who taught or currently teach at the Universities of Athens (since 1837) and Thessaloniki (since 1942) as well as at the Divinity School of Chalki (1844-1971) under the aegis of the Patriarchate of Constantinople (Turkey). This catalogue contains also all Greek holders of a doctorate (Th.D., Ph.D. or equivalent) in the specialty of Old Testament, either in Greece or abroad. Their nonscholarly articles or works on various Old Testament issues are not included in this catalogue. In addition, this catalogue does not contain the scholarly works on various Old Testament issues by Greek Professors who do not specialize in Old Testament studies.

This program consists of three categories: A, B and C. Category A, numbered from 1 to 30, lists all Professors of Old Testament from the Universities of Athens and Thessaloniki; category B, numbered from 30 to 40, lists all Professors of Old Testament from the Divinity School of Chalki; and category C, numbered from 50 and higher, lists all Greek holders of a doctorate in Old Testament Studies, either in Greece or abroad!

Most of the works listed in this catalogue have been written originally in modern Greek. They are presented here in Greek characters without transliteration; thus, knowledge of modern Greek is a prerequisite for the user!

This current version required many hours of careful cataloguing and hardworking searching. It is our intention to continuously update and correct this catalogue by issuing updated versions in the future!

Suggestions on your part concerning potential errors in this program or improvements that can be made will be sincerely appreciated!

In our future plans is the creation of another electronic bibliographic catalogue. This will include all works (commentaries, interpretations, introductions, etc.) on Old Testament issues, either scholarly or not, except those listed in the present catalogue. Our future bibliographic catalogue will include only those works on Old Testament which have originally been written in Greek or have been written by Greek authors in any language from the first century A.D. up to this day.

This first version of Old Test Greek Prof version 1.0 beta is devoted to the memory of my Old Testament's teacher at the Divinity School of the University of Athens, Professor Athanasios Hastoupis, who passed away in 1992.

The OldTestGreekProf will be available through the Network "Internet".
The OldTestGreekProf is released under the ShareWare concept.
